Devon Residential Architect of the Year Award

Originally published in late 2017, this post celebrates a defining moment for our studio: being named Devon Residential Architect of the Year at the Build Architecture Awards. While this accolade was received under our founding name, Tim Offer Architects, it represents the high standard of design and client service that has become the hallmark of our evolution into Threshold Architects. This award was a regional recognition of our commitment to creating exceptional homes, a mission that continues to grow in scale and technical ambition as we move forward.

While our old colleagues and friends at Mole Architects have notched up another success, winning the Stephen Lawrence Prize for Houseboat in Poole, we have been getting our own small recognition for some of the work we have been doing since leaving Mole to set up TOA in South Devon.  We have recently been recognised in the Build Architecture Awards 2017 as Devon Residential Architect of the Year, and Church Road was also declared best South Devon Family Living Project. We were also recognised as Devon Architectural Design Firm of the Year in the SME news South West Enterprise Awards.  A big thanks to all our clients and collaborators who have enabled the work that we are doing, and also to whoever nominated us for the awards!

The Stephen Lawrence prize is the RIBA’s top gong for projects less than £1m and was announced at the same event as the Stirling Prize for the building of the year.  Mole have previously won a whole bunch of RIBA awards as well as the Manser Medal and were shortlisted for the RIBA House of the Year with Millway in 2015.

Winning the title of Devon Residential Architect of the Year was a significant milestone, but it was also a promise to our clients to maintain those standards as we grew. Today, at Threshold Architects, we have expanded our team and our technical capabilities, but our core focus remains unchanged: delivering bespoke, site-sensitive residential architecture across the South West.
